How often should my ducts be cleaned?
-That depends on quite a few factors; we can easily determine whether or not your system is due for cleaning and the frequency of cleanings during the system's maintenance check-up. Leaky ductwork, inconsistent or poor maintenance, pets in the household and loose houses will require more frequent cleanings.
How often should my filters be changed?
-Standard one inch filters should be changed at least once per season. Pleated one inch filters should be changed more often as they restrict air flow considerably. Larger four and five inch cartridge filters can last as much as a year between replacements. Filters that are left in too long will reduce capacity, efficiency and the life of the components.
What is the most efficient way to heat and cool my home?

How can I make my system more efficient?
-Regular system maintenance will ensure your system is operating not only efficiently, but safely. Components last longer, and most often, break downs can be prevented.
Why does my system start up and shut off so often?
-In many cases, systems are oversized. Regardless of whether it's a cooling or heating system, an oversized system will waste energy and short cycle. Oversized equipment is a trademark of contractors unable to properly design a system. These systems are noisy, drafty, inefficient and often fail prematurely.

-Yes you can! Charlene will gladly take your payment over the phone and process everything promptly without a hassle.
How far in advance can I schedule my maintenance appointment?
-Once you enroll in our maintenance program, we will contact you for scheduling. If you have specific needs, give us a call to ensure they are met.
Why is there such a big temperature difference from one room to another in my home?
-There are many factors that contribute to unbalanced systems. Some were designed for heating only and upgraded for cooling that requires changes in air flow. Some systems have been modified over the years to accommodate additions and remodeling. Is something broken? Obviously there are far too many scenarios to accurately diagnose your symptoms without seeing. Is there anything I can do to make my outside air conditioner last longer?
-Once again, regular maintenance is your best measure to ensuring a long life for your equipment. Covering it in the winter will protect it from the elements as long it's done properly.

-Many times, the air system in a home is blamed for dust. Sometimes it is the culprit; damaged or leaky ductwork can easily pull in attic or basement air. Older homes can be dusty and damaged or blocked dryer vents can also contribute. Give us a call and we can pinpoint the source.
Why does my house smell musty?
-Musty odors are typically linked to moisture issues in your home. While dehumidifiers will help, measures should be taken to solve the problem if possible.
Do programmable thermostats really save money?
-Yes. Setting the temperature lower when it's not occupied can save you 15 to 30%. Just be sure not to set the temperature too low when it's extremely cold outside.

Why is the woodwork in my home cracking?

Do heat pumps work?
-Yes they do. Modern air source heat pumps are capable of producing substantially more heat than previous generations. When properly designed, a heat pump can reduce your heating bills by as much as 60%! If your existing cooling components are in need of replacement, explore your options. Upgrading your cooling only unit to a heat pump system is likely to be relatively inexpensive.
